Mushroom Log Inoculation Workshop with David Warfel

Discover the art of growing your own gourmet mushrooms at our hands-on Mushroom Log Workshop! In this engaging session, you'll learn how to inoculate logs with mushroom spawn and create your own sustainable source of delicious fungi.

This fun and informative session will cover:

·         Tips on selecting the right wood and mushroom species

·         A step-by-step demonstration and hands-on experience with the log inoculation process

·         Guidance on caring for your logs so they produce mushrooms for several years

No prior experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. Children are welcome to attend and participate with parent/guardian supervision. An inoculated log may be taken home for an additional cost depending on availability – to be determined.

As a response to the abundance of fallen trees after Tropical Storm Helene, David facilitated several community mushroom log workshops that provided over 90 participants with hands-on experience producing 200+ mushroom logs.  He currently resides in Westwood Cohousing in Asheville, working as a hydrologist and cartographer with a passion for learning and organizing communities around wild food and ecological culture.
